Senior Services focuses on health information and services

This month, Senior Services at Memorial Park Community Center, 510 Bert St., will feature classes, presentations, and screenings to improve the health and well-being of those 50 and older during four free events. These include:

Spring Clean Your Medicine Cabinet: Tuesday, March 20, 1-3 p.m.
ETSU Gatton College of Pharmacy students will be in the Senior Services lobby to share tips on cleaning out your medicine cabinet, when and where to discard used medicines, and general medication safety. No registration is required.

Thyroid Disease: Monday, March 26, noon-1 p.m.
Local endocrinologist Deepika Reddy Nallala, MD, will talk about the importance of hormones produced by the thyroid gland and treatments for various thyroid disorders. Preregister at the Senior Services desk or by calling 423-434-6237.

Diabetes Alert Day: Tuesday, March 27, 10 a.m.-noon.
Nine of 10 Americans at the highest risk for type 2 diabetes don’t know it. Have your blood sugar checked, take a risk test, and learn more about prevention. No registration required.

Balance Screening: Wednesday, March 28, 1-3 p.m.
Students from ETSU Physical Therapy Department will provide free balance screenings. Space is limited. Preregister at the Senior Services desk or by calling 423-434-6237.
