Community Policing

The Johnson City Police Department is committed to the philosophy and practice of community policing and collaborative problem-solving. All Police Department personnel are encouraged to work within their assignments to collaborate with residents, businesses, community service providers and other stakeholders to address and resolve concerns and improve quality of life in City neighborhoods. Community police officers coordinate and patrol special events and serve as dedicated officers in neighborhoods served by the Johnson City Housing Authority. In addition to a full-time Community Policing Unit, the JCPD now has Community Police Officers assigned to each of the four patrol platoons. The officers, known as Platoon CPOs, support and enhance the department’s ability to respond to the community’s needs and engage in proactive problem-solving with residents and businesses.

Community police officers help organize Neighborhood Watch programs, coordinate and patrol special events, and serve as dedicated officers in neighborhoods served by the Johnson City Housing Authority.
